Both spring and autumn are warm. The summer is long, hot, and humid. The predominant wind direction is from the west throughout the afternoon and evening, blowing in from the Mediterranean; at night, it switches to an offshore direction, blowing from the land out to sea.
Tourism
Both visitors from the Arab world and the West travel to Beirut. It is ranked the ninth greatest city in the world ranking. It was placed first on The New York Times’ 2009 list of “44 places to go.” The economy of Beirut has historically depended heavily on the tourist sector, which continues to be a significant source of income for both the city and Lebanon as a whole today.
