No, Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi will not be classified as an international airport as of April 2020. However, there are plans to improve the domestic airport to the international level.

Birsa Munda Airport is a single terminal structure with 2 levels that were rebuilt in 2013

Level 1 features a VIP lounge, check-in, security, a waiting room, a baggage claim area, luggage carts, stores, restaurants, art installations, tribal artwork, and an escalator to level 2.

Level 2 features more seating, stores, an airport restaurant, rooms for retirees, an aquarium, a VIP club, and a café.

 

Integrated Terminal

Ajit Singh, the previous civil aviation minister, officially opened the airport’s new integrated passenger terminal building on March 24, 2013.

The terminal building cost US$25 million in 2020 to build and has an area of 19,600 square meters. Six escalators and two aerobridges are included, and the machinery was supplied from China, Germany, and Singapore. The terminal can accommodate 500 domestic and 200 foreign travelers at once.

 

Cargo Terminal

In February 2017, Raghu bar Das, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, officially opened a new freight facility. The terminal has explosive trace detection tools, cargo X-Ray machines, hardware security tools, and CCTV cameras. It can handle 50 MT of goods each day.
