MIA has a total of 4 main passenger terminals - Terminals D, E, F, and J. These terminals are divided into a North Terminal (Terminals D and E) and a South Terminal (Terminals F and J). Terminal D is the largest terminal, with 50 gates. It is used primarily by American Airlines, which has a major hub operation at MIA. Terminal E has 15 gates and is used by a variety of domestic and international airlines. Terminal F has 30 gates and is used by both domestic and international carriers. This terminal also houses the airport's international arrivals facilities. Terminal J is the smallest terminal with just 8 gates, and is used by low-cost and charter airlines.
